NOT ME. :)
About a month ago, I was listening to the radio on my way to take Will to school. The morning show was on and the kids were talking and I wasn't really paying that much attention to the radio, but I did hear them say "we are taking the 5th caller and you will win a one of a kind monopoly game with Tucson properties on it, and $50 dollars worth of Arizona Lottery Monopoly scratch and win tickets. And I don't know why, but I picked up my phone, dialed the number (I never do this by the way) and it started ringing. "Hello, who's this?" Me: "Umm, Tara Curtis" Radio guy: "Tara Curtis, you are the 5th caller." Me: "Wow, I never win anything."
So I won the game and the tickets, which by the way won me 17 whole smackers. And I also won a spot to play in a giant monopoly game.
Moving forward to today. . I played in the big game. There were 4 contestants, playing on a life-size 400 sq. foot board in a Basha's Grocery store parking lot. It was probably 95 degrees and we played for 90 min. It was a lot of fun. I of course came in 4th out of 4. Wich was totally fine with me, I haven't even played Monopoly since I was like 10 years old, and some of the other players were totally die hard Monopoly fans. So the winner gets to play in the regional championship game up in Phoenix at the state fair, and the winnner from there gets an all expense paid trip to New York to play in the National Monopoly Championship. And though it would have been fun, I am sort of glad that I didn't win.
They gave us a gift bag with a bunch of stuff that had the Arizon Lottery logo on it. But I did get a $50 gift card to La Encantada Mall, very upscale, and tickets to see Sheryl Crow at the state fair in Oct. So I didn't come away empty handed. My sweet, wonderful, supportive husband came with all the kids to support me and the kids did a really good job sweating it out in the stroller in the parking lot.
Anyway, one of those things to have a memory about. Even if it is sponsered by the lottery, and even though I haven't ever gambled, nor will ever gamble in my life. Hmmm, was this all a little contradictive to anyone. :)
