It's funny how perspective can change very rapidly. Earlier this evening I posted the picture I submitted on a website and asked everyone to vote. Then I read a blog and an email regarding trials that two different families are going through, and somehow my picture didn't seem so important anymore.
Life is full of humbling experiences and I am so grateful everyday for those experiences and for the lessons that are learned.
I was thinking about general conference and though I didn't hear every talk (I'm a mom, what can I say :), there was one message that seemed to be said quite a bit from several different people. The scripture Doctrine and Covenants 121: 7-8 was quoted a bit, as well as the statement Joseph Smith made about the Gospel spreading around the world. Section 121 is where the prophet Joseph Smith was in Liberty jail. And there was so much suffering going on inside the jail and on the outside with the saints, that the prophet prayed to God and asked Him how long they were to suffer. The answer came, beautifully of course,
"My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine affliction shall be but a small moment; and then if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes."
I truly believe this scripture with all my heart. No matter what we are going through, the Lord will lift us up and help us bear our burdens, He will strengthen us beyond our comprehension and we will triumph. We will be better because of it.
The Savior is always there with hands outstretched, it is up to us to take it. He loves each of us so much and I am so, so grateful and humbled by the opportunities I am given daily to learn and grow.
