When you say to someone, "you are my best friend" what does that mean? I have had, in the past, a mixed up view about it, it seemed to me that a best friend was someone with whom you have been friends with for a long time, like your friend that you have had for 20 years.
But as I have grown and matured, I have been enlightened. According to one definition, a best friend is, "someone with whom one shares the strongest possible kind of friendship." And that strong friendship could develop over months or years. It is a term not to be passed out lightly and the key is the bond that is felt.
Can there be more than one best friend? Absolutely. My mom is my best friend, my husband is my best friend. And on very rare occasions there are others whom you could put into the catagory of a best friend. Of places I have lived, including growing up,and all of the people I have been blessed to meet, I have a few (4 to be exact) best friends outside of family that basically are family to me. They are gifts from Heavenly Father that help remind me that He knows me and is aware of what I need.
