A comforting word, a friendly deed
Will bring you blessings untold.
When you but give with a loving heart,
You'll always receive ten-fold. When you help a needy friend
Along Life's rocky way,
The peace that's deep within your heart
You'll find is there to stay. You'll find that peace eternal
Is a smile—a touch of cheer,
A simple prayer—a fond hello
Just knowing a friend is near.
Will bring you blessings untold.
When you but give with a loving heart,
You'll always receive ten-fold. When you help a needy friend
Along Life's rocky way,
The peace that's deep within your heart
You'll find is there to stay. You'll find that peace eternal
Is a smile—a touch of cheer,
A simple prayer—a fond hello
Just knowing a friend is near.

"Possums," my professor said, "I want you to buy someone a Coke this weekend and blog about it." Huh, buy someone a Coke, I don't even drink Coke. He explained that it wasn't literally buying someone a Coca Cola, but doing something nice and unexpected for someone. Ohhhh, we all said. We are slow like that sometimes. Chock it up to our young age, oh wait, I am old.
Anywho, I was trying to decide what I wanted to do and I had thought that I would like to go through a drive-thru and pay for the person behind me, so when they got up to the window, the gal could say, "it's your lucky day, the person in front of you paid for your food." That would be so good, I would love that to happen to me. But then I forgot, and Saturday came and went. I was talking to my mom and she reminded me of something I had done early Saturday that would fall under this "buy someone a Coke" deal and it really does.
My life has been a pretty big roller coaster these last two years, a post for another day for sure, but recently something really great has been happening, also a post for another day. But this great thing involves some really awesome kids. Two of these awesome kids are going on missions soon. One of them went to the temple for the first time yesterday. I don't know the kids super well yet, but I want to be someone in their life that they can count on and that loves them and cares about what is happening to them. I sent a message to this darling girl letting her know that I was thinking about her and that I hope her day was amazing. I was happy to let her know that I was thinking about her. But the best part was her response! She was happy that I sent the message and she was so sweet about it. It made my day and I am so glad that I followed the prompting to message her in the first place. Now I am not sure if that is exactly what my professor had in mind, but I think this experience totally topped giving someone a Coke. :)
