Well, I have never been so glad for Monday to come! Whew! And actually yesterday, Sunday, was a pretty low key day as well. But Saturday was a little busy. I woke up at 5:30 am to be at the cannery by 7:00 a.m. I have never volunteered at the cannery before, and I absolutely loved it!! I hadn't placed an order, I just wanted to see what it was like. I am a really task oriented person, so it was right up my alley. While I was at the cannery, Buddy went to clean the church, and he took all the kids with him (now that's what I call being able to get a task done, take three kids with you :) One other family came to clean and they had to leave after about an hour. So when I was done at the cannery at about 9:00 a.m., I drove over to the church to help finish cleaning. We were done by about 10:30 a.m. Then we stopped to get breakfast for the kids. We came home and Tyler and Emma had a nap, and I finished preparing my lesson for Sunday, and made a dessert for the ward party later in the day. Then we had to be back at the church by 2:30 p.m. to get ready for a baptism, Buddy is the ward mission leader, so he is in charge of organizing and preparing for the convert baptisms. Allen Gasque, a young man in our ward was baptized, and it was just wonderful! Buddy had to conduct the meeting and I played the piano for Allen to sing "Amazing Grace". He did a wonderful job. We were done with the baptism at about 4:00 p.m. I had to rush home to start steaming the corn for the ward party, so we could be on time to the party at 5:00 p.m. We had a wonderful, fun time at the party. It was at the park really close to our house, so we just walked over. Emma had fun playing football with the young men, (seriously, I kept looking out across the field to make sure the blur of orange was there, all the kids chose to wear halloween shirts to the party which worked well because I could always spot where they were, and she was running along with about 7 or 8 young men just following whatever they did.) Tyler decided to join in the water activities, mind you, he was not wearing a swimming suit. And Will had fun playing with all his friends. We made it back home at around 8:00 p.m. Got the kids ready for bed and in bed by 9:00 p.m. Forgot that Saturday was laundry day, and I was only half done. Buddy fell into bed, and I stayed up until 11:30 p.m. doing laundry and cleaning the house to get ready to have company for dinner on Sunday.
I love to stay busy doing good things, but Saturday was a little busy, even for me.
The day worked out great, and we really slept very well Saturday night.
But you know, looking back, everything was really important and each thing in and of itself was very fun, rewarding, and fulfilling. So it was just really all in a days work.
