Amazing Art

Art is amazing.  I really love looking at art and trying to see what message the artist is trying to convey.  This is a famous painting by Salvador Dali, "The Persistence of Memory".  What do you see in this painting?  Dali himself said that this is a surrealist perception of a Camembert cheese melting in the sun. If you look closely you can see part of a face, sleeping.  Does this painting represent a dream?  A view of time?  Perhaps the state of time in a dream, as if time doesn't matter while you are dreaming.  Sometimes we don't exactly know what the artist intended to say, but what matters is what we think when we look at it.  How does it make you feel?  As the title suggests, I feel that it represents how we view memories.   Memories are events that actually happened, as the presence of the clocks represent something concrete, however, as time goes by, the memories fade or become distant and skewed in a way, just as the melting of the clocks makes the concrete idea seem slippery and vague.  And what does that mean to me?  It makes me want to take care of my memories, write them down, share them, blog about them, anything to keep those memories alive and real.  So interesting.  Art is amazing!
